Gombe state aligns 3G project with YESSO

...Governor Inspects tree planting sites, township road projects

After a successful official flag-off of the Public Workfare (PWF) and Special Grant Transfer( SGT) of Youth Employment and Social Support Operation (YESSO) programme as well as issuance of ATM cards in Balanga local Government area of the state on Tuesday, 10th December, Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has taken the campaign to Gombe Local Government Area, with a call on beneficiaries to be dutiful in making the programme a success.

Governor Yahaya said his administration has alligned the YESSO programme with the Gombe Goes Green (3G), with a view to ensuring that the YESSO scheme beneficiaries are sustained beyond the lifeline of the initiative in June 2020.

He encouraged the youths not to worry out of fear of the impending expiration of the programme, assuring that his administration has mapped out strategies of sustaining them through similar empowerment projects.

am happy to say that in the six months of this administration, we have enrolled over 27,000 beneficiaries across the 11 Local Government Areas in line with World Bank target. With this development, I’m confident we shall achieve the objectives for which this laudable program has been designed.

"With the flag-off of the Gombe Goes Green project, I hereby direct that all the 27,000 beneficiaries be deployed to the 3G Program so as to nurture these trees through watering and proper management. Each beneficiary will be paid a stipend of seven thousand, five hundred naira (N7,500.00) monthly. In fact, an arrears of 5 months shall be paid to cover the period since we launched the program, making each beneficiary eligible to receive the total sum of N37,500 immediately. This shows our commitments towards designing and implementing programmes that have immediate impacts on the lives of our people and the control of our climate and environment".

The Governor promised to take the campaign train to other local governments across the state to ensure fair and equal representation from all nooks and crannies of Gombe state.

He however appealed to the World Bank to extend the programme so that the benefits will be realised and the lost ground covered.

The National Coordinator, Youth Employment and Social Support Operation, Hajiya Hajara Sami, who was represented by the state coordinator, Mr Michael Habila, commended Governor Inuwa Yahaya's administration for demonstrating commitment both in words and actions for the realization of the set objectives of the programme as well as his concerns for the welfare of the poor and vulnerable in the state.

The Governor also visited the Idi Praying ground, Gombe to inspect trees planted under Gombe Goes Green - 3G project, where he was briefed by the Commissioner of Environment and Forest Resources, Dr. Hussaina Goje, on the progress of work.

He expressed delight with what he saw on ground.

The Governor afterwards inspected the ongoing 7 KM Jekadafari roads network project in Gombe metropolis, where he expressed satisfaction with the quality of the work.

He said his administration, in collaboration with the Local Government Councils will come up with an initiative tagged "Network 11-100, aimed at constructing at least 100 KM of roads in each of the 11 local governments, translating into 1100 KM of roads across the state.
