The ever ‘good to go’ Professor Chinedum Uzoma Nwajiuba, Vice-Chancellor, Alex- Ekwueme Federal University Ndufu-Alike Ebonyi State, in his usual dogged determination to raise the flag high enough through, massive development in research, teaching, community service, infrastructure and green revolution, to keep the new but very fast growing University at the top and best among equals. Prof. Nwajiuba’s belief in Abraham Lincoln’s declaration that “The part assigned to me is to raise the flag which if there be no fault in machinery, I will do and when up, it’ll be for the people to keep it up…”

Pragmatic Nwajiuba has taken the infrastructural development of the university to a new dimension. If it is not construction of new link roads, it is renovation of some of the lapidated 2012 buildings. He is indeed opening up the University and transforming it to enviable status without stop even with the meagre resources at his disposal. On Thursday 12th of December 2019, VC took an inspection tour to the University Back Gate at Zone A of the University Campus where massive roads and bridge constructions are going on. The roads and bridge, according to him will open up the area and effectively link it to the Administrative zone and the other sites mapped out for the Mosque, New Faculty of Management and Social Sciences, and Union Buildings. Prof. Nwajiuba added that construction of the new bridge will encourage easy link to all parts of the Campus.

The next port of call was the site of the new University Guest House where construction has started in earnest. According to Prof. Chinedum Nwajiuba, when completed, the Guest House will be more suitable and cost effective for University guests, for proximity convenience and comfort. It will also save costs and generate revenue for the University, he added. Vice Chancellor also visited the Convocation Arena, to witness the rapid transformation going on there, preparatory for the 4th Convocation scheduled for Tuesday 17th December, 2019. Prof. Nwajiuba was quite satisfied with the extent of work done at the Arena and thanked the contractors for work well done.

During the tour, some villagers who are engaged working at the sites, at each point during the inspection tour cheerfully commended VC for the great work he is doing, thanking God for using him as a tool to develop the young Institution and the host community.
