Arsenal/Man City match removed from broadcast schedule by China state TV due to Mesut Ozil Muslim statement.

China's state broadcaster CCTV removed Sunday's Arsenal-Manchester City game from its schedule after comments made by Gunners midfielder Mesut Ozil, state media has reported.

Ozil posted on social media about the treatment of Uighur Muslims in China.

In his social media post Ozil, who is a Muslim, called Uighurs "warriors who resist persecution" and criticised both China and the silence of Muslims in response.

In addition, the Chinese Football Association said Ozil's comments were "unacceptable" and had "hurt the feelings" of Chinese fans.

I think it's time football grew a pair and stood behind Ozil. The treatment of the Uighur moslems at the hands of the suppressive Chinese regime is inhuman. These guys are put in detaintion camps and brain washed by the regime while the whole world folds it's arm and pretend like nothing is happening.
Football should play it's role as global citizens and speak out against issues like this as it is doing with racism.
