maya is more advanced than 3ds max when it comes to animation from my experience and even the developers attributed to this fact. Animated Works like The Incredibles, South Park and Ex-machina was done with maya. |

I think this argument was put to rest when autodesk bought alias. Now both software have merged since they are produced by the same company. |

It all depend on your area of usage and your familiarity. But if you want to choose between software or packages then you have to a serious comparative analysis. I.e 1. Compare the drafting ability and flexibilty of both 2. Compare the rendering effects on both. 3. Universality can equally come into play. 4. Market worth of both. Ie cost of individual software or licence renewals. 5. User feed back info. 6 professional assistance when needed. 7. Machine requirement of both. I.e ram and speed. 8. Individual prefernce can also come into play. 9. Client requirement and inter-changerability. To mention but a few. |
