ODION IGHALO WINS NAIRALAND NIGERIAN FOOTBALL FANS (NNFF) PLAYER OF THE YEAR AWARD, 2019!


Odion Ighalo has won the Nairaland Nigerian Football Fans Award for the year 2019. This he did by beating his closest contestants: Wilfred Ndidi and Victor Osimhen. Odion Ighalo also won the best attacking player of the year.

The Super Falcons Category saw Chiamaka Nnadozie emerging as the Super Falcons Player of the year by beating her closest rivals: Azeezat Oshoala and Francisca Ordega. This is the second time in a row that this award Category will be going to a goalkeeper.

The Selection and Votings were done by Fans of Nigerian Football on nairaland as a way to acknowledge the contributions of various Nigerian players to the Successes of the Nigerian national teams in the year 2019.

10. Best Performing dual/multiple Citizenship Nigerian Prospect of the year:
-Cyriel Dessers

11. Super Falcons Player of the Year:
- Chiamaka Nnadozie

12. Super Eagles Goal of the Year:
- Samuel Kalu vs Benin( 2021 AFCON qualifiers)

13. Best assist of the Year:
- Aina for Ighalo vs Burundi (2019 AFCON)

14. National Team of the Year:
- The Super Eagles

HOW THE FANS VOTED


1) Total of 66 Monikers Participated in the voting exercise.

2). 63 votes were cast in Award Category 2 (NPFL Player of the year). 3 didn't indicate at all with one or two stating their reasons as "not knowing much about the league happenings".

3). 65 votes were cast in Award Category 11 (Super Falcons Player of the year). One vote not cast was by a moniker citing disappointment in the entire Super Falcons team

4). 66 votes were cast in Award Category 12 (Super Eagles Goal of the year). But one vote was invalid because the moniker indicated two vote options instead of one... So we worked with the Valid 65 votes.

5). 66 votes were also cast in Award Category 13 (Best Assist of the year). But One vote was again invalid as in no.3 above due to same reason (picking two vote options instead of one).
We worked with the valid 65 votes.

6). Finally in the remaining Awards Categories 1,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10, and 14... 66 votes were cast for each category.
