Every parent has a style of parenting and every culture also provides a standard which is considered normal and most appropriate in bringing up a child.

the today you mention isn't real, it was in the past that parents go to any length or measure to discipline their wards.
parenting has became so weak they now spare the rod to spoil the child. violenve you mentioned is a reflection of our society.
this isore based on the content our wards and kids are having access to through the media this days.

If normally Nigerians are like this with all the discipline and domestic violence as you claim can you imagine how most of us will turn out if we were treated with kids gloves?
