Ģood day guys. I just removed a sata hard drive from a very old damaged hp laptop. Please is there a way i can test it to see if its working before spending 2k to buy hard disk casing. I stay in ibadan and whats d price of hard drive casing in ibadan?

Just borrow external sata-usb connector from a friend and test the hard drive.

Those casings vary in quality.

They can be as cheap as 1k or as dear as 4k (if u are buying transcend casing)

I can clearly say that you can make it possible for connect to any computer wich do have something like SATA 2 for example for whole that interface anyway for whatever reason being done there. Believe me I was also scared that I will damage the drive if it's from laptop - do not worry.
