The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, has said the National Assembly will rather be a rubber stamp for the progress of the country than fight the executive arm of government. https://punchng.com/better-to-be-rubber-stamp-than-fight-executive-gbajabiamila/amp/?__twitter_impression=true

Fighting the executive when they take irrational descisions like the almost 30b loan request is normal. Your duty is to put the executive recklessness on check. It's not fight 4 Likes |

The moment the Deputy Senate President was pictured kneeling to greet the President, I suspected that the legislative arm of the government is annexed. Gbaja should know that no one is prompting him to fight the Executive, but rather provide the checks the constitution guarantees. ...and yes if fighting the executive will make them turn away from anti-democratic tendencies, please do. 4 Likes |

Please be in harmony with the executive...we don't want a wasteful 2015-2019 National Assembly. Saraki led National Assembly fought the executive for 4years what did Nigeria benefit from it but delayed budget passage, unnecessary holding out on the requests of the president on urgent matters that would have helped the country, unnecessary drama, rancour n macho. Please I love a rubber stamp National Assembly biko 1 Like |

Femi Gbajabiamila, you have obviously proven that you don't have the mental capacity and competence to be the speaker of of the House. It's a big shame. Who says you should fight the executive, is Femi so daft to realise that theirs a reason for checks and balances? Those are one of the traits, strength and beauty of democracy? Do I need to lecture Femi on that considering his person, personality, qualification and above all exposure? Femi the motive behind the creation of that arm of government is to check executive excesses and rascality. Femi I understand you spent a good number of years in America and you are expected to have seen how a successful democracy works. It's called check and balances and not fighting. Femi you have just proven that wash a pig, comb a pig, and a pig still remains a pig. The #30B loan did the house even care to call in the executive to throw more light on where it is to be borrowed from? , The intreste rate of borrowing and duration? What are the projects they want to use the funds for? What are the repayment plans? And most importantly how it affects our present economy? This is the disaster you get when political office holders have become stooges to certain interests. Femi Gbajiabiamila with all due respect to your person, personality and office, you are dumb and daft. It would have even been better you closed your mouth so we will be wondering, than opening it to prove to the world you are empty. 4 Likes |

The OP in his confusion chose to cut out all what Gbajabiamila said to push his propagandist narrative. Below is the statement in the link the OP posted for those who will just read headline: Gbajabiamila, while reacting to the allegation of becoming an appendage of the executive, said the decisions of the 9th Assembly were in the interest of Nigerians. He said, “People, critics and members of other parties have said the 9th Assembly is a rubber stamp of the executive. They may have told you that, too. You know what? It is better to be a rubber stamp and bring progress, than fight the executive without progress. When two elephants fight, the grass suffers. “The fact is that the National Assembly is not a rubber stamp. This is a National Assembly that represents the interests of the people .The people of Surulere did not elect me to fight the executive, but to engage and collaborate with stakeholders to bring the dividends of democracy. “This is a new dispensation. There will be checks and balances. There will be separation of powers. We will agree with the executive if we have to and we will disagree if we have to. Our watchword is to protect the interests of the Nigerian people. That is the oath that my colleagues and I swore to.” He noted that the lawmakers had returned the budget cycle to January to December with the 2020 budget, adding that the development would increase economic activities and give enough time for budget implementation. The Speaker explained that in the last 20 years, it was the first time that the country would be running a January to December budget, saying it would restore the confidence of investors.
