Same Gupta that stole half of SA’s money, same Gupta that has been blacklisted by the US. Nigeria is cursed I swear.

Have you any idea how common the name Gupta is?

Even a search of the Name Alok Gupta would come up with various options.

Once completed and commissioned, we must make sure these indians pay their fair share of taxes, they have a way of channelling everything back to india. They can never be trusted

That theory has long gone with the wind as the most used phrase used by every government without nothing to show for it.

Wow....Where the hell did that come from?

I had no idea we were building a 600 million dollar steel plant anywhere in the country.

That's nearly a billion dollars.

One day we'll just wake up and find this country has turned to Japan at this rate.

Dangote is already building the world's biggest refinery in Lagos.

Near the site, Eko Atlantic rises slowly to challenge Dubai's glory.

We are moving forward.
good one there bro...we need motivational peeps like this...

Just the other day, I suggested we don't have to wait for Ajaokuta.

Smaller and even diverse steel companies can rise up.

I've been vindicated.

Congratulations to Nigeria.

Only rent-seekers are waiting for Ajaokuta...
Privatized Aladja Steel has been up and running for a while as Premium Steel Co. (even exports some products).

Many of you guys know nothing when it comes to building a successful nation. Eko Atlantic has everything to beat Dubai in less than 10 years. Firstly, Nigeria has several sectors that are yet to be developed, youth population, I mean highly innovative youths driving the tech scene in Nigeria and Africa. Nigerians in Diaspora that always check Nairaland to know what's going on...... Just to mention few, the entire UAE doesn't have such capacity..... Quote me if you want me to give you details.

May I inform you that development like that of Dubai is not sustainable. I mean such economy hardly stand test of time. Economy needs to be diversified, in Dubai we have oil, tourism, real estate as major revenue. However, take a look at Nigeria, manufacturing is underdeveloped but on the way. Tech is growing, Agricultural, different mineral resources, gold, iron ore, oil etc. Above all youth population.

Let me add this again, no matter the amount of money the government is borrowing today, with growing population Nigeria is standing because no matter where you invest the money it's all good. In transportation, education, health care, etc compares to countries with old population. Nigeria has a brighter future than any advanced economy with old population.

Sense like yours is very scarce on NL.....some many ignorant illiterate are littered on this faceless forum..

I love your patriotism Rossikk and I know it is completely free of party political or tribal affiliation.

I know this because I remember you being just as patriotic and positive about the country whilst President GEJ was in charge.

Whilst reading your post I asked myself, who is this person being so positive and optimistic? I had a little smile to myself when I saw your moniker. Whilst I don't always agree with you or your methods, I completely respect and appreciate your views for reasons I mentioned earlier.

On the subject matter, I was not even aware that we are already producing any steel in the country, talk less of 1.2 million tons per annum.

We need more patriots like Rossikk to help us realise or remember that we are greater than we are generally led to believe by our corrupted local media and international news agencies.

Merry Xmas to you bro and to all Nigerians !

Much appreciated bro. cool

You see, one of our main problems is dejection. As many of us struggle to leave these shores, some through the Sahara Desert, with slavery their end point, thousands of Chinese, Indians, and Lebanese are flooding this country and setting up businesses!

Is that not madness?

Many of us need to clear our eyes and start to see the same things in the country those foreigners are seeing, that's making them come, ie opportunities. For far too many of us, all we see are problems. The foreigners see those problems as opportunities.

Thank you.

Since 1960 they have been promising, projecting and painting rosy budgets into the future with nothing to show for potential 20 years later.

Look at Ikoyi, VI, FESTAC, all the first generation universities not to mention the Ajaokuta and all the bridges built that have never produced world class engineers.

Why? They import even the pins, nails laborers called foreign experts used for their new projects after abandoning political and military predecessors' projects.

How many countries do you know that called in foreigners to come in and rape their children, mothers and fathers but still expecting the raped country to prosper?

Nevertheless, Rossikk enthusiasm must not die. What are we going to replace it with, hate?

D comparison u made was with eko Atlantic and Dubai. D simple question I asked u is "How many buildings are there in Eko Atlantic that it will now challenge Dubai?". Instead of answering d question u talking of d future of Nigeria. How does everything u have said show that eko Atlantic can challenge Dubai? U are just talking out of point.

Even in ur comparison u made between Dubai and Nigeria, u are comparing d potential of Nigeria with d achievements of Dubai. What type of comparison? U are boasting about potential. Dubai is boasting about achievements. When Nigeria has achieved these things u are saying, then u can start comparing Nigeria with Dubai

Good, let me explain a little. All the countries that I mentioned are all advanced countries with these things in common. Big economy, big debts (in trillion dollars), old population, eg Japan should be 60% of its population above 60yrs, I don't know the current figure.

What that means is that, in the next 10 years, more than 60% of the population would be burden because they cannot work yet with deteriorating health. This is the issue, with huge national debt it means the few younger generation would work so hard to pay through taxes. Unless, they are not paying those debts.

Secondly, people above 60yrs do not drive economy. Because, it's the young people that buy Gucci, Mercedes Benz, Ferrari, IPhone etc. So, what that means is that companies producing such wouldn't be considering those countries in fact they'd be moving their money and investments into different places. This is why you'd see a vibrant Greek company struggling at home but would relocate to China or move it main operations to China. This is just an example.

Secondly, old people are not as innovative as the young people. Research, innovation, etc would be struggling. These are what economy is all about. We have or called them distrustive tech, you can see what an average taxi driver is making compares to Uber, shop owners to e-commerce, Android/Symbian etc. All these things are difficult for the older generations to adapt to or understand them at all.

Lastly, compare all these situations to Nigerian case, population of 200m with debts less than $100bn. Youth population above 70% and still growing. Norway is about 6m, old population with debt around $1tn.

Your intellect is on point....so many illiterate without an ounce of economic knowledge won't know this..

D Norway u mentioned with d data u gave, is Nigeria better than Norway? U are making ridiculous comparisons. Nigeria isn't in d league of d countries u are mentioning, not in d past, now and not in d future. Start your comparison from Africa.

What has been d youth population of Nigeria since 1960 compared to Japan, Germany & Norway that u are mentioning? Y is nigeria still not better than them? What has been Nigerias debt since 1960 compared to Japan, Norway and Germany? Y is Nigeria not yet better? Be there waiting for debt and ageing population of Japan, Germany and Norway to make them fall b4 Nigeria will rise as if Nigeria hasn't always done better than them in terms of debt, natural resources and youth population.

With this your postulation, its obvious that u are driven more by fantasy than reality
