It is now a popular slogan for campaigns in Nigeria for politician to promise the citizens free education. In the real sense what does Education for the masses mean to them? is it just a means of seeking cheap votes? Or just a normal slogan or saying in any political season.

I have watch and seen political office holder during their respective campaigns woo the people with promises of free education and making if look like its a big deal as they knew that all what the people understand as free is what they are not paying for.

Now the real question. The fact that you do not pay tuition or school fee does it truly make Education free. ?

The truth is that Education can never be free and will not be free hence our politicians should stop the deceit.

Why do a Nation Need to Invest in Education?

There’s a lot any nation stands to gain when she invest in her people. Countries in Africa have suffered underdevelopment because leaders do not make quality investment in their people.

Today in Africa and Nigeria we battle with so much social and economical vices which have since course a great set back to the development of our nations. Our leaders have refuse to take seriously the warefare of their people, education is one thing that the politicians have successfully been using to their political advantages.

Today our government at all level invest so much in what could have been been easily handled if we have nations of people with sound minds. We spend so much on waste, security, we find if difficult to relate vital government policies to the people due to their level of understanding.

In Nigeria politics thrive on ignorance and it is always to the advantages of our political class who do not really believe in the well being of the country. Imagine we allocate less to education and health and our leaders prefers to spend those monies on security. The same insecurity they created through their selfishness and evil nature.

Today we are faced with series of crimes some of which have never been known to us.

Investment in human is a capital project and it should be treated as such. Have government been able to save those monies meant for vital sector such as Education and Health? We have been battling insurgency for close to 20 years which have claim so many lives and has lead to loss of resources. All this is as a result of how we handle our critical sectors such as Education.

States commit so much in cleaning their environment just because the people cant just understand government intentions when they are asked to pay a little of their income for such purposes. Primary and secondary school education should be a must for every citizen and it must not continue to be delivered in the manner we have it today.

You guys travel abroad and you see their public schools, some of our political leaders get their children enrolled in public schools abroad while the one in their neighborhood is in a sorry state.

I want to plead with our leader and everyone of us, let us allow 2020 usher in a new system, so we don't continue to provide people who will continue to be a liability to their nation, we should rather collectively work for a greater tomorrow through investment in Critical sector of human Existence. No matter how much development we desire, it can only be possible by investing in Education.
