This argument has been lingering for centuries. Some school of thoughts believed power is impossible or nothing without money.They believed power exist where there is money.
However some scholars argued that power gave money its value. Otherwise nobody will give you his/her goods or services for a mere paper. Besides the most powerful man on earth can make the richest man on earth a common church rat with just a single silly policy from his bedroom.

Let look at some examples:

The tussle between God and Lucifer is over DOMINION(Power) not money.

Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.(Mathew 28:18).Jesus Christ mean POWER here not money.

Even the supernatural beings are after POWER not money.

Money is nothing without power. Knowledge is more useful than money. Having wisdom and knowledge to gain the means of exchange (be it money, water, leaves, trees, shelter, food, etc) is the principal thing. Having wisdom gives one power to acquire the means of exchange
