The medal parade is conducted to award medals to soldiers who have served in operation against Boko Haram terrorists for the at least 90 days.

The recipients for this year included soldiers from Nigeria, Cameroon, Chad, Niger as well as as member of Nigerian security agencies.

The occasion was well attended by very important personalities such as Minister of Defence, Borno state Governor, Chairman Senate and house committees on defence, Emir of Gworza, Army Generals and others. The occasion was attended by more than 2,000 guests.

The event was held at Gworza which is situated between 2 Boko Haram hotbeds ( Sambisa Forest and Mandara Mountain).

The Nigerian Army West African Social Activities (WASA) is a social function where commanders celebrate with their soldiers, family members and community. The event comprises of cultural display, parade and other social activities.
