The Grammy award features artists who are known and seen to be the best in 84 categories ranging from General Field,Pop,Dance/ Electronic Music,Contemporary Instrumental MusicRock,Alternative,R&B,Rap,Country,New Age,Jazz,Gospel/ Contemporary Christian Music,Latin,American Roots Music,Reggae,World Music,Children’s Spoken Word,Comedy,Musical Theater Music For Visual Media,Composing/ Arranging,Package Notes,Historical,Production, Non-Classical Production, Immersive Audio Production, Classical Classical,Music and Video/Film.

The 62nd edition of the Awards ceremony is scheduled for January 26, 2020, at Staples Center in Los Angeles and promises to recognize the best recordings, compositions, and artists of the eligibility year, running from October 1, 2018, to August 31, 2019. Nominations were announced in all 84 categories on November 20, 2019.

However,the next edition stipulated for next year seems to be receiving a lots of attention from Nigerians as the popular singer and songwriter named Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu who is professionally known as Burna Boy has been nominated as the “best world music album” alongside other musicians such as Angelique kidjo,Altin Gun,Natalie joachim among others.

He rose to prominence in 2012 after releasing “Like to Party”, the lead single from his debut studio album L.I.F.E (2013).

Burna boy is the name on the lips of old and young in the country and even abroad has the guys has displayed great level of excellence in some of his recent songs ranging from his hit album African Giant supported by six singles:”Gbona”,”on the low,”killin them” ,”Dangote”,”Anybody” and “pull up” to performing at Coachella, Burna Boy has already had a stellar 2019, and it’s only getting better.

Over the weekend, the artist added to his list of major wins by claiming the Best African Act award at the MTV Europe Awards which took place in Seville, Spain.

However, despites all these achievements,one could not actually say that there are not other factors that could prevent him from winning the award even though it seems his chances of winning are high.

Therefore, the following could be seen as odds that are likely to mitigate against his chances of winning.

Featuring foreign artists; it’s of crystal clear that burna boy has not been collarborating with foreign like his other counterparts in the field and this could have given him advantages over others as this could actually increase the number of people listening to his music.



The absence of voting method could also be seen as another cogent reason while he might not win the award as this prevent his loyal and die-hard fans from voting for him coupled with the fact that are a few number of people as the number of the NARAS who are eligible to another issue that should be of major concern is also that of the fact that he will be competing with other musicians which some are not new to the rules of the award as well those who could be referred to as being the best in their own ways.

In spite of all these factors that seems like mountains, it will be very wrong to assume that he won’t come home with award because of his great achievements in the industry these days.it is however the best to accept that his chances of winning can only be said to fifty-fifty.
