Ekere Served The Niger Delta Meritoriously by UncommonReports(m): 7:56pm On Dec 31, 2019
There has been a lot of media reports lately alleging that Mr. Nsima Ekere, former Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) and APC Governorship Candidate in last general election in Akwa Ibom State and his successor at NDDC, Prof Nelson Brambaifa have been indicted in the United States following the discovery of USD11m (or is it USD12m, USD16m or UDS17m) in an account belonging to the wife of a serving Army General deployed to the Commission between 2016 - 2019.

This apparently mischievous story is absolutely false and incorrect especially as it involves Mr. Ekere. For the records, let me state that Nsima Ekere has not been indicted by anyone in any country on earth and traveled for a well-deserved holiday on December 21.

An indictment means one has been investigated and a prima facie case established in accordance with legal procedures. We have recent examples to guide our understanding of the issue.

Ekere served meritoriously as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of NDDC, resigning voluntarily to contest the Akwa Ibom State Governorship election. He welcomes the forensic audit ordered by President Muhammadu Buhari and is in support of any move that will translate into sustainable development for the Niger Delta region.

Mr. Ekere is on hand and ready to account for his stewardship while he served as helmsman of the NDDC. Until that is required, he is entitled to and deserves the right to continue to live peacefully as any other law abiding citizen of NIGERIA.
