Elementary economics taught us the different types of ecomonic system where Capitalism, socialism and MIXED ECONOMIC(combination of elements of capitalism and socialism) systems are defined and seperated.
USA is a capitalist economy
NIGERIA is a mixed Economy
Democracy is a system of government not an Economic system so dnt get them mixed up.
That is where the difference you seek lies.

U.S. is a Capitalist economy and Nigeria is a Mixed economy, huh? Please come again. Can you please define "mixed economy" in this particular context? The last time I checked, a mixed economy is one in which both private and government both play important roles with regard to production, consumption, and investment. It's a mixed economy did not say one has control over the other and the last time I checked, the banking industry is 100% privately owned, I'm yet to see a FG owned bank, so that your "mixed economy" failed its test of reason on this one. Besides, don't confuse yourself, when they discussed about economies, its simply explaining how each part play a role in the allocation of scarce resource, production, capital etc pretty much everything on the macro economic level and you said it yourself, that does justify what laws are in place.

A mixed economy does not call for government control of private organizations, but rather a shared responsibility between the both, perhaps intervention of the government when it’s needed. Again when you fire a CEO, you pretty much have an authority to decide day to day control of the company. A mixed economy “DOES NOT” call for control but rather swift intervention if need be. For your correction, the U.S. does not practice a 100% of Capitalism; there is some degree of socialism practiced as well. The U.S. uses to a certain degree a mixed economic system to balance its economic system.
