Okowa’s Upgrade Of Asaba Airport Attracts More Airlines

BY PATRICK MGBODO

The recent inclusion of Azman Air to the growing fleet of airline operators at the Asaba International Airport has reinvigorated the confidence of air-travellers and the prospects of economic development in Delta State.

Credible sources also revealed to The Pointer that Arik Air will resume operations as Overland airline is expected to continue in February 2020 following the upgrade of the airport by the Governor IfeanyiOkowa administration.

For the Commissioner for Information, Mr. Charles Aniagwu, the decision of more airlines to operate in Asaba was a testimony that the investment of the state government in the airport is yielding fruits.

Likewise, the Executive Assistant to the Governor on Interparty Relations, Comrade David Ashikodi, underscored the commitment of the Okowa administration to developing the aviation sector.

For him, Governor Okowa has etched his name in gold as he has not played undue politics in upgrading the airport to international standards, adding that the arrival of Azman Air was a welcome development.

Explaining the economic consequences of more airlines in the airport, the project director of Asaba International Airport, Mr. Austin Ayemidejo, pointed out the multiplier benefits to the hospitality and road transport industries in the state capital.

‘’Once you have an increase in the volume of traffic to a city, it means a lot because the hospitality business will benefit tremendously from it, it means that cab operators will also enjoy great patronage from the passengers.

‘’Daily, we record about 700 passengers now and with Azman Air coming in, we may record up to 1000 on the average every day. The safest mode of transportation is by air and so people find it more convenient to use and it means a lot to the economic development of Delta State’’ he said

Good!

SS and SE should be developing and escape this country together, or if we remain, remain together as one in a Confederation.
