No fewer than five persons lost their lives on New Year’s Day after a petrol tanker collided with a sedan car in Polokwane South Africa.

According to reports retrieved by Naijauto, four of the deceased died on the spot. The fifth person was rushed to the hospital, having sustained severe injuries, but later gave up the ghost.

The accident occurred along N1 road – an area that is infamous for several road crashes. Following the accident, residents of the community were agitating for the authorities to do something about the incessant accidents.

Relevant authorities in South Africa are reportedly investigating the cause of the road crash. They have also sent their condolences to families of the deceased.

It is unfortunate that the fatal incident occurred on a day when billions of people across the world were celebrating the gift of another new year and decade, 2020.
