President Muhammadu Buhari has condemned murder of 19 people by gunmen in Tawari community of Kogi Local Government Area, Kogi State. President Buhari, in a statement issued yesterday by his media aide Garba Shehu, said “there is no excuse or justification for killing innocent people by anybody or group, and for whatever motive.

“The killings and revenge killings will only aggravate the cycle of violence, creating neither safety nor security for any side. “People should avoid taking the law into their own hands because doing so could make a bad situation worse and undermine the government’s efforts to tackle security challenges.

“I am gravely worried about frequency and temptation of using violence to settle disputes instead of following lawful and amicable means to avoid needless destruction of lives and property,” the president added.

...and it stops there. No proactive measures will be taken to prevent its future recurrence.

Buhari should do something.

This government is becoming more reactionary than proactive. So gunmen were killed in that community some days a go, that could have been an indicator for security to be beefed up in the community, but to no avail. What are the various intelligence units doing in this country? In cases like this, I was expecting SSS/DSS,IGP IRU,NIA,NAI,& Significant others swing into action to catch the other members of the gang.
By the revelation of the assailants coming in bikes numbering over hundred, shows that they have a camp nearby. In fact, these guys can easily be apprehended because the maximum motorcycle can travel is 140km/hr of which the normal bajaj,jinchen,.. and other motorcycle can travel easily at that speed and as criminals, they already have their exist routes but still cautious because something can go wrong and ppl will be suspicious of their movement. Anyway, our security men are not proactive in anyway. Their standard is so loose and fallen. So sad
