Recent happenings in the entertainment industry in Bayelsa State is raising serious concerned amongst practitioners and veterans. The issues are disheartening and resulting to retrogression in gains attained in the last two decades.

The vibrancy of the artists cannot be overemphasized, but their attitude and approach is raising several questions in many quarters. The Bayelsa entertainers are losing respect and credibility among his contemporaries in other climes on daily basis.

Timaya is an export in the Bayelsa Entertainment Industry that has printed his brand of music in the global space. Yearly, the artist has leave different hit songs that have attracted different laurels to his name and the state at large.

His recent yearly show in the Bayelsa's capital, Yenagoa tagged 'Timaya Day' where top artists in the country performed remains evergreen and worthy of commendation and applaud by well-meaning Bayelsans especially musical artists.

The platform provides upcoming artists to have a feel of such a global stage to showcase their lyrical content and dexterity of beat production. The music scene in Bayelsa is quite creative and full of dynamism at every point but needs a catalyst that will hasten it's rapid development.

While it is expected to see the upcoming artists to explore the platform to project themselves for global recognition, others are undermining it but believes that Timaya should just strike a deal with them without going through the rigorous process of been properly refined as a viable product.

Rather than attracting a positive vibe that will propel them, they see it as an opportunity to bring down their act as well as the state. Kudos to Timaya for putting up such an international musical event that attracted the world to Yenagoa, the host capital.

Today, BlackGeez is the winner of the N1m prize of the Timaya Day Talent Hunt Challenge and striking a collabo and world-class video production deal. BlackGeez who is a rapper has carve an niche for distinguishing in his act, attitude and music.

As we celebrate his achievements, others turned the event to display their usual character of pride and disrespect for protocol and their colleagues. This, one of Bayelsa finest DJs, DJ Steven condemns in strong terms.

DJ Steve in a phone interview with Barakumo Solomon Odede described as uncalled for and unnecessary in order to move the Bayelsa entertainment forward.

The DJ noted that the attitude of the artists is painful, it is uncalled for an artist to disrespect a DJ while on stage.

He expressed displeasure at the behavior of an artist who disrespected a DJ on stage explaining that no matter the size of the DJ, an artist should respect the person because it is DJ that plays the songs of the artists.

DJ Steve said it is against the practice for an artist on stage to shout and use abusive language to the DJ.
