Port Harcourt Airport Closed Over Fire Incident by ipreach: 10:16am On Jan 05, 2020 |
The Port Harcourt International Airport runway has been temporarily closed by the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) over a bush fire incident that recently occurred near the facility. Closure of the airport reportedly prevented flights from landing and taking off from the airport on Saturday January 4. FAAN's Corporate Affairs General Manager, Henrietta Yakubu reassured Nigerians of its commitment to the safety, security and comfort of passengers and airport users. She said; “A joint team from the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria and the Nigeria Airspace Management Agency is presently evaluating the situation. "This is with a view to ensuring that the airside is cleared of smoke and restoration of normalcy at the airport.” https://www.believespot.com/2020/01/port-harcourt-airport-closed-over-fire.html

The airport is supposed to be fenced so how did bush fire come about or are they allowing people farm inside the premise as is the norm in Nigeria? |
