African women football has seen a lot of improvement over the decade, more and more footballers from Africa are getting the opportunity to compete in Europe's Elite teams.

The just concluded African women world cup saw two African teams reach the knockout phase for the very first time. Over the decade, Super Falcons of Nigeria has dominated the women championship without much stress. But they recently had to adjust to a defensive style to win a record eleventh AWCON title in 2018.
