I finally get it. The thing I’ve finally gotten is why there are so many beauty pageants in Nigeria churning out ordinary looking women. Why when a post emblazons, 'The Most Beautiful Her in Nigeria or The Greatest Beauty Ever In Nigeria’ and you enter the post, expectations hurrying your clicks along, you end up finding your hopes dashed on the ordinary features of the pictured supposed beauty. I recon these beauty pageants are a kind of publicity stunt by Agents for their client so that those clients (often relations or girlfriends) can join the Celebrity Circuit. It is like when Agents pay TV stations for their clients to appear on a News slut to discus their books. Well, the “Agent”, who wants to provide publicity for their client (probably a niece, sister, girlfriend etc that friends and family swell their heads by calling good looking), organises local beauty pageant. Perhaps something like “the Most Beautiful Girl in Delta State competition”, Agent charges the public gate fees for the opportunity to watch the show and takes participation fees from those girls that want to take part in the competition. Unbeknown to these girls, the Agent’s Client has been earmarked to win the competition. In any case, with a beauty competition win to the Agent’s client name, the Agent is then able to go around selling his or her client to the Celebrity Circuit as ‘the most beautiful girl in Delta state.
