Hello, Welcome to the last month of the decade! I pray this December for you will be a December to remember. Looking back at the beginning of the year till this very moments, there are so many things that God has done for me that I need to be grateful for. It is said that most people remain stagnant at a spot because they lack gratitude. Yes, I personally had hopes dashed and disappointments in 2010. There were things I set as goals that I have not achieved BUT it does not prevent me from being thankful because as I take stock, I realize more than ever that I have something to be thankful for. It is only when you recognize the little you have that more doors of abundance opens. Yes, I have not gotten enough money to buy my dream Golf IV car or send my mum to the US for medical checkup or send my siblings to the best of schools but there are alot of things to be grateful for. To this end, I am taking a stock of the things that God has done for me this year to lay a fresh foundation for 2011. Here is a little exercise. Open up your MS Word or notepad and just make a list like this. 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. 9. 10. Next start filling it up with things which looking back you can say thank you to God for (ignore those things you have questions about), starting with I am thankful for… My list is pretty pretty long but let me just share some of them (those not too personal). I am grateful that; 1) I am alive, sound and healthy 2) No member of family is reported dead or lying in the hospital bed 3) I have amassed wealth of knowledge about internet that I am seen as an expert/consultant 4) my reputation and character has not been soiled by any means; no court case, no accusations 5) the journey I started 2003 to earn a degree in Petroleum engineering has successfully come to an end with a 2.1 class of degree. God, I thank you. May the souls of all fallen colleagues along the path rest in peace. 6) I am seen as a solution provider than a liability. God, I am grateful. 7) for the 1st time, I was airborne (though locally, last year). God, I am grateful friends and network of people around me. It said that Your Network Is Your Networth. With them, I feel everything I need is at my fingertip. Isn't it? God, I am grateful. 9) As you take this little exercise, you will realise how much blessings you received this year no matter how ungrateful you were some minutes ago and no matter how much you’d like to deny the fact that you have no reason to be thankful. That you have not died of hunger, that you have a home to return to tonight and not sleep under the bridge, that you are still married and not divorced, are ALL reasons to be thankful. When you perform this exercise, I am sure everybody reading this will go beyond 10 things to be thankful for and that shows you two things: * No matter how much you’d like to deny it, you have a reason to rejoice. * If all those wonderful things happened to you this year, then 30days it too much time for more to happen. Remember, God created the world in just 7days of creation. Take Stock – Give Thanks! Till tomorrow. Ciao! |
