Some call it Aestivation, while some call it Hibernation
This is just a way snails use to protect themselves from harsh weather condition especially during the dry season. By covering their face with a whitish thick membrane called cyst or hymen. They neither eat nor drink this period until the weather condition is perfect again.
Don’t panic when you notice this, it is usually harmless to your snails

How to overcome this

Ensure there is enough mulch material in the snail pen (dry leaves) to help conserve moisture
Sprinkle the pen with water once in two days (avoid flooding the pen with water)
Regulate the relative humidity of your pen environment by planting shelter plants around(such as plantain, paw paw trees)
Ensure there is adequate feed for the Snails
