It’s already a known fact that Emeka Ihedioha’s election as the governor of the Imo state was cancelled by the Supreme Court. But we wish to analyse Why Supreme Court sacked Ihedioha and declared APC’s Uzodinma winner.

Hope Uzodinma of the All Progressive Congress (APC) was confirmed by the Apex Court to be the winner of the state governorship election on 9 March.

This are the reasons Why Supreme Court sacked Ihedioha and declared APC’s Uzodinma winner:
Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun agreed with the unanimous judgement of the panels of seven that, in the course of the settlement of the final governorship election result in Imo State, results of 388 polling units had been excluded unlawfully.

The results of the 388 polling units added to the existing result according to Justice Kekere-Ekun confirmed that Mr. Uzodinma had secured the majority of valid votes and was to be declared the winner of the INEC election.

As a result, it annulled and revoked Mr. lhedioha’s announcement as the winner of the 2019 Southeast State Governorship election.

The Court ordered Mr lhedioha to be immediately instantly retrieved back by the Independent National Electoral Commission – INEC and to issue the return certificate, immediately to Mr Uzodinma as the duly elected Governor of Imo.

“Some votes was incorrectly excluded from the appellant’s scores. Senator Hope Uzodinma and the APC were wrongfully denied of 388 polling units.”
