See President Buhari's Foreign Trips In 2019: The Timeline by afonjaman: 7:44pm On Jan 15, 2020 |
The President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari, has always been under fire for incessant foreign trips either for private reasons or state assignments. Many critiques opined most of his trips were unnecessary and have been of no benefit to the economy of Nigeria while also putting pressure on the taxpayers to fund fruitless adventures of a globetrotter. Even though the Presidency has made it clear the trips are all justified and has helped to attract foreign direct investment into the country, the criticisms have not dwindled. According to TVC News, the President made a total of sixteen foreign trips in the year 2019. Of all these, only two were private and one religious, the remaining were strictly state duties. It’s also noteworthy that the President didn’t embark on the trip until he had won the Presidential election for the 2nd term.
