Governors Hijacking LG Funds Will Face Trial – Presidency by Islie: 8:44am On Jan 16, 2020
The Presidency yesterday said governors hijacking funds meant for their local government would face trial immediately after leaving office.

The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Ita Enang, according to a statement by his spokesman, Edet Etuk, gave the warning yesterday while featuring on the Federal Radio Corporation Network Service programme, “Issues of the Moment” .

Enang charged the Accountant-General of the Federation and the Attorney-General of the Federation to monitor the spending of allocation of funds to the states.

“Let the governors know that they would be made to stand trial in accordance to the extant law when their immunity is eventually lifted,” Enang said.

He said most of the local government secretariats had been taken over by weeds; “while most of the primary healthcare centre do not function.”

By the way,
The immunity rubbish should be removed from our constitution.
It has done more harm than good.

The FG should strengthen electoral process at the local government level first to stop governors from appointing the chairmen or caretakers. That should be the first step but for now, he that plays the pipe dictates the tune.

Is it by 2023 when this present administration's tenure ends just like most of the governors that they'd face this trial?

Una go just carry dey open mouth dey yarn anyhow....

Wetin even concern the spokesperson to the President's Senior special assistant on Niger Delta affairs with State governors and Local government affairs?

I would support anything that'd humble the governors and keep them in check, but this is clearly all talk no substance.
