go to internet properties and set your connection as metered

Search for Background intelligent transfer services (BITS)

stop it from running also disable it.

Search for Windows update and do the same also.

Sometimes it automatically triggers, so you have to check if it's not running when you restart or turn on your laptop another time.

If they continue to trigger automatically, setup a scheduled script to turn them off say every 10 - 15 minutes.
You can also block access to msft update url / ip via your hosts file or any of the numerous firewall utilities.
