Ajimobi algon chairmen are gone for good . There was a law that stop ajimobi to conduct the local government elections in the first place when he was the governor in 2018/2019 then. Still some people don't understand the law. Dissolve kooo, delay niii.

Thanks for telling them ooo.

People will just be exhausting their energy on one sided news. APC knew there isn't election but only trying their luck.

In Ogun State 19 Local Govt Caretaker Committees Were Sworn-in Last Friday In Abeokuta

In as much as I condemn the illegality of dissolving elected councils and replacing them with caretaker committees that are unknown to law, I must also state that the AGF doesn’t have the power to issue directive to the governor on the matter. At best, he can offer his legal opinion on the matter and nothing else. The right thing is for the lawfully elected council members to institute legal action against the governor.

Correct!

If he doesn't have the power, he wouldn't have done it.
What the governor has done is not just an infringement on the local government chairs but on the constitution and as such, the federal government through the office of the attorney general can take legal actions

The aggrieved is the LGA chairmen and not the AGF. They should go to court and enforce their right unless there is a substantive order already, then IGP should enforce it.

Maybe detaining an individual after the individual had been given bail is 'constitutional' in Malami's version of the constitution. inanggg

It's a matter not local govt autonomy which supreme Court has already rule on. He is the AGF and he is just reminding the makinde that it is illegal.

Malami should just encourage the parties concerned to go to court.

Malami should be clear in his statementd, people would misconstrue his advise as judgement which only a court can order given his position.

MALAMI is Mr. PRESIDENT of Justice. He's above the CJN.

I agree that the AGF can take legal action against the governors violating the constitution as regards composition of local government administration. However, the AGF cannot issue directive to elected governors. It is only a court of law that can issue such directive.

How can one person in the name of Governor be thwarting the will of the whole masses of the state by dissolving the LG council elected by them. Do you even need a court to tell you that this is not democracy.
Re: Malami Asks Makinde To Dissolve LG Caretaker Chairmen by orisa37: 7:24am On Jan 21, 2020
States are Governed by Governors and not Presided over by President. So you don't give Responsibilities to Governors and Authorities to the President. That's not a good Directive Principle. Malami's Directive is an Aberration.

No need to go to court.
It was passed into law last year. No state governor has the power and right to dissolve LG duly elected. The law doesn't recognise Caretaker Chairman any longer.

What happens when a stupid Governor like GSM refuses to obey simple court order.

The problem is that Makinde does not have a mind of his own. Oyo is an example of a state ruled by cabals like Bisi Ilaka and Lanleyin.

No wonder the President said that rule of law comes second to national security. Just as you claim that the government has a right to detain any citizen, don't you think that the Governor also has the right to dissolve the chairmen and install care taker committee chairmen? or is the Governor not part of 'the government'?

Stupid misinformed failed blogger. You're obviously referring to the court injunction gotten by some Baales on the demarcation of some wards. Ignoramus, before that election took place, that case was settled and if you're certain it wasn't, please produce the court judgement stating so. Even your PDP lawyers aren't using this dead excuse in court. Update your knowledge before spewing trash on a public forum. Some of us are more current than you'll ever be throughout your life time.

Audio governor has no choice. The IGP will simply order the CP to send police officers to escort the elected LG officers back to the council.

The sweetest thing is that as a result of NFIU, caretaker chairmen have no access to LG funds. They've been borrowing to sustain themselves. cheesy

Imagine after borrowing then realising that such borrowed funds was on their own accord and not on behalf of the LG. As far as the Law is concerned they are illegally occupying a position and merely impersonating the real LG chairmen.

Pls tell me, is it only Gov. Seyi Makinde that is currently running the LGAs with caretakers?

All over the North and south you have this practice by (especially) the first time Governors. So what is so special about Oyo's?
