Possible Scenarios If The Presidency Takes On Amotekun In Court by Sanchez01: 1:20pm On Jan 22, 2020
It is no longer news that the formation of Amotekun and its launch has greatly unsettled a tiny ethnic group in Nigeria, including Herdsmen which the government protects in a way, and the sudden silence of the FG over the southwestern security outfit suggest it's legal perspective is being weighed.

While Malami has been quick to announce that Amotekun is illegal, he has been tutored on elementary law by Akeredolu and even Itse Sagay, Chairman, Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption and a staunch supporter of President have schooled the AGF on the same issue.

I am no lawyer but a likely or possible scenarios will play out should the FG take on Amotekun in court:

1. Despite being a regional security outfit the SW governors will deny the outfit as parallel to the NPF and claim it is nothing but 'community policing', not too different from 'Neighbourhood Watch' outfits.

2. In a bid to shove, the governors might cite Hisbah as being parallel to the NPF in the North when it didn't pass through the fire of law.

3. Hisbah as an example would imply two things in court;
A. That the SW can and should go ahead with its security network.
B. That Hisbah is just as illegal as Amotekun and the two be scrapped.

4. Should part A above happen, the South East and the South South and the North Central might follow suit in a speedy manner, meaning the FG's loss will be monumental.

5. Should part B above happen, Hisbah will be scrapped just as Amotekun wouldn't see the light of day. And this means Sharia Law won't have enforcers in the North as there can be no parallel police which Hisbah has been ever since.

6. The possibility of Civilian JTF will be brought in and debated as well since civilians are permitted to bear arms and defend their lives and properties.

Regardless of where the case turns, the North will lose one way or another. Akeredolu has stated that those who are not happy with the outfit should fix a date in court and as a SAN, I believe he has weighed not only the option of the South West but also believe the regional security outfit will fly.

For fear of losing the case and motivating other regions to launch theirs, the Presidency might continue to use individuals and, it's elites and pressure groups such as the Miyetti Allah to continually issue warns and strike fear in the heart of people.
