Political Jiggery-Pokery Cannot Help You - Group Tells Enugu Politicians

Our attention has been drawn to the fake news reports making round in the news media claiming that two aspirants for the February 29th Local Government Elections in Enugu State were attacked yesterday while another report said that a phantom Fulani Herdsmen destroyed rice farm worth over N17 million in the state.

Ordinarily, we would have maintained our silence over the matter because Ndi-Enugu and Nigerians already know that it is fake news sponsored by those who lost out at the just concluded party primaries in the state, but because we don't want the unsuspecting public to be deceived by the hocus-pocus of these politicians, we have decided to make the necessary intervention.

Hence, the sponsors of the fake news claiming that two aspirants were attacked are only smart by half as no body will waste his time attacking aspirants who can be described as 'dead horse' when the candidate of the party had already emerged in a credible, free and fair primaries.

The second fake news claiming that Fulani Herdsmen destroyed Rice Farm in the state is also a fake news manufactured to discredit the success story of the security organisations assembled by the state government.

None of the two fake news reports ever happened in the state but the truth is that politicians who were rejected by their people in the just concluded party primaries wanted the government to intervene by imposing them on the people but when the government refused and allowed the will of the people to prevail because of it's commitment to participatory democracy and good governance, these politicians and their financiers became mad and decides to launch attacks against the government because the deadline given by the Enugu State Independent Electoral Commission ENSIEC to political parties to hold their primaries between January 15 and January 22nd just ended yesterday.

In the coming days, we are sure that these politicians will gang up with their agents in the media to attack government efforts but their plots will fail because sovereignty lies with the people.

Therefore, we call on the State Governor, Rt. Hon., Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi to ignore the fake news reports and remain focus and committed to his good governance drive in the state.

We also urge Ndi-Enugu and lovers of Enugu State Government to ignore the antics of these shenanigans who do not mean well for the state and it's people.

We also urge our people to support the various securty agencies in the state by volunteering actionable intelligence to them for the continued peace and protection of the state.

Truly, Enugu State is in the Hands of God.

Signed:

Dr. Edwin Obune,
National Coordinator,
Enugu Youth Coalition
