Vice President Yemi Osinbajo is currently meeting the governors of the South West geopolitical zone over the launch of a security outfit known as “Operation Amotekun”. The outfit launched on January 9, 2020 was subsequently declared illegal by the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami.

Malami’s pronouncement had been greeted with both condemnations and commendations from the supporters and opponents of the security outfit established to tackle security challenges in the zone.

Amotekun has come to stay, it is long overdue.

However, the SW Governors should do the proper thing by backing it up with laws in their respective Houses of Assembly.

We can't be talking about the rule of law and still be supporting something that isn't backed by the law.

Let's be consistent with our convictions.
