So I decided to buy a Toyota Camry, between the 2007-2009 series and specifically requested the i4 series considering I wasn't going to be making much distant trips and ease of maintenance hence the V6 was off my list.

However Midway into my search for the car of my choice I was told that the year 2007-2009 Camry series suffers oil burn issue. Even carscomplaints attested to this fact.

Most dealers also told me it's basically an i4 issue that oil Burns don't occur in the V6 series

Now I'm confused. Is there a solution to this problem and how true is it that the V6 don't suffer such.

Go for the 2010 model. The engine was replaced in that model with a better engine

Well, you might have to manage the 2007-2009 model then. The oil burn is noticeable when the mileage is above 100k. Since you won't be making much distance trips, the oil burn would be somehow negligible. After observing your regular oil changes, always take note of the engine oil dipstick. It's not like it would totally burn the all the oil. At least a little over a litre in 3 months depending on the usage. Good thing is it won't smoke. Goodluck
