This was 100% pilot error and stupid decision making. He was holding for 15 min on special VFR clearance outside of Burbank airspace before he was transitioned around Van Nuys. He didn’t want to follow the 118 freeway out to Camarillo and instead wanted to cut back from 118 to basically scud run to destination following the 101. He was given a low altitude to maintain by controller and turned west into rising terrain. He should have been in an IFR plan and clearance, followed a flight plan and appropriate altitudes and landed safely in Camarillo. The pilots decisions were stupid.

Helicopter is one aircraft that I find so difficult and complex to fly.

His decisions seem stupid because you got to know about it. Pilots generally make such decisions and go Scot free. In fact, in every endeavour in life people get to make similar, seemingly stupid decisions all the time.

It's beyond this o. If the craft fell 2000 feet in a dash then it was deliberate. That's the implication of this information

Religion in and of itself, be it Christianity or Islam or whatever, does NOT save anybody. If you think just by being a Muslim or Christian then someone is saved, then you got it wrong.

God will open your eyes someday.

Their demise was tragically fast, I doubt they felt the pang of the impact of the crash. Just hope they all passed through heaven's gate.

There shud be ways to save lives during a chopper mishap. It can’t keep on being a fatal situation. The technology hasn’t improved in terms of safety and accidents.

What kind of improvement is that then?
I don’t think there can be way. Cos of that rotor u can’t just off the chopper

Nothing is impossible. I’ve given it a thought. The rotors on malfunction shud be able to disengage and go off then a parachute launched.

This is a death that shouldn't have occured. A craft can give in one location for an hour and even more and ask for help. The craft came with extra engine so the pilot should be able to switch engines in the event of an engine failure

At 2000feet high, the passengers could/would have been able to parachute to safety.im seriously unhappy with Kobe's death

A rotor that can disengage is probably too much a risk

Not the rotor itself bt the compartment housing it or Smtn. Or a bottom or rear door ejection System. Like a shell.

Technology has really improved. The chopper hit a mountain and spiralled down to destruction. There is no safety insurance against that

Anything made by humans is subject to fault, I especially believe that technology needs to improve in the area of accidents like this.
