Umu Eze Tsima: Igbo in Every Essential
Tsima the king, however, with his two sons Ekensu and Oreze and their households, retreated right across the river, and settled in the same spot that their successors now occupy. But in leaving Ado-n-Idu behind them, these people then and for ever abandoned their Bini nationality and language.
For even those who have remained on the western bank, and who are therefore within easy touch of Benin, are Ibo in every essential, talking pure Ibo, and not a mixed language, or even a dialect, in which Bini words are to be found.
In succession to Eze Tsima, the following kings have reigned over Onitsha:—Tsinwukwa, ISTafia, Atasia, Tsimezei, Tsimefi, Azoli, Tsimedie, Omozele, Ijelakpe, Udogwu, Akazue, Diali, Anazonwu.
With regard to the election to the kingly office, there are in Onitsha four communal divisions, viz., Ulutu, Gbeneke, Ado, and Eke n'ubene, to whom all matters are referred.
To Ugwu n'obamkpa belongs the absolute right of conferring what is called "Ofo"—the god of truth and justice —upon the chief or individual who is elected king.

No peace for the wicked...Igbo must drive some people crazy. Come and practice Bini culture in Onicha and change the nomenclature including Ogwugwu Udo , the most revered shrine in Onicha.

Come and celebrate Igue festival in Onicha.
Come and speak Bini in Onicha
Change all the names of Onicha ancestor that migrated from the so called Bini including Ezechima, Chimaevi, Chimedie , Oreze etc..

Start with changing these ancient Igbo names to Bini names......rubbish

Prove it with empirical facts not not made up stories without proofs. Show me how Onicha royalty relates to Bini....Prove it ! And start from Ezechima , the progenitor of the Ezechima group. Oga , Igbo is too strong for you , the British could not understand us and hated our style of settlement and governance....we were Republicans way before Americans created democracy...lmao

Aside from the fact that it was well documented by colonialists and your griots. Even the lineage stated in the embedded book has Edo names as Kings. All you have to do is read the page grin

Republicans my ass. Your higher caste had Eri and imported Obi. Then the Arochukwu superior Igbos too had their own system. Just so happens most of the Igbos are dispersed people with no homogeneous history. Kiss that Republicanism to a lack of structure

Onicha inherited some very minor nomenclature from Bini. And thats a given because Bini was both powerful and influencial in the midwest , but Igbo is way too strong.. Even Umuoji and Obosi take the Iyasele title like Bini, just like you borrowed the Oba title from Bini. Bini also practiced Ikenga and our 4 market days. Igala , Ikwerre , Ika , Ukwuani etc also speak Igbo and practice our culture. Imagine Ikwerre that were Bini migrants but today they have been swallowed by the consuming influence of Igbo culture. In the next 50 years Bini will be speaking Igbo. We dont need war to colonize anybody. They just willingly merge. Very powerful !

The rest of the incoherent rubbish you wrote there belong to the dustbin. And , yes , Igbo had an Nze na Ozo system of governance that governed the people.
I have also read Tribes of The Lower Niger, and you are yet to present your proofs...show me evidence to shut me up.

I didnt know Chukwuka, Ezechima, Chimaevi, Chimedie, Odogwu, Oreze , Atasia, Diali, Akazue were ancient Bini names that point to the origin of Onicha people....lmao

Bini borrowed Oba from us. We literally changed the Ogiso line and changed it to Oba (Oranmiyan the progenitor of the Benin ruling house). Indisputable fact.

Edos are our cousins anyway

Bini claimed they invented the name , Oba.

Meanwhile, Oba in Igbo means "mighty".... We created the word

It may interest you to know that the Onitsha people left Udo town in old Benin empire during the reign of Oba Esigie. Udo used to be a powerful and a rival town to the capital of the empire, Benin City, the Onitsha people took along with them the ugwugwu Udo shrine to their present location. Benin/Onicha connection is irrefutable. Udo lost her relevance and power to Benin City when prince Aruan lost the battle to succeed his father to his younger brother whose birth was announced first to the Palace. His younger brother became Oba Esigie. It was during the war between Benin city and Udo, the Onitsha people left Benin. Udo town is one of the oldest town in Edo state.

Prince Aruan is also known as Aruan N' Okemezi because of his great physical strength.

The Benin, Idah war which the Portuguese witnessed and documented happened during the reign of Oba Esigie.

The Nigeria FESTAC mask which the Attah of Igala wears around his neck is a commemorative pendant to honour queen Idia, mother of Oba Esigie for the role she played to ensure Benin victory over Idah. She is remembered as the first Benin female military general to lead a troop into the battlefields. She also played a great role to ensure her son, though junior to Aruan by few hours was crowned the Oba.

The traditional title, Agboghidi of Obi of Onitsha is synonymous with another old Benin town Ugo.
Agboghidi was a great Duke that reigned in Ugo. The word Eze is also not synonymous with Igbo alone. There is a family in Benin who goes by the morning greetings Lavi-Eze, meaning greetings to the children of Eze.

The names Udo, Ugo, Agboghidi and Eze are all ancient Benin names. Igbo itself is a relatively new word or name.

Your reverse migration theory is also untrue because the people that left Benin are those that named their current location Onitcha and according to Dr Nnamdi Azikiwe's grandmother the word Onitcha means those that despise others because of their Benin royal blood. If they had simply returned back home there would have been no need to despise their Igbo people they left behind.

A variant of Benin culture is already being practiced by the Obi of Onitcha. The Obi's traditional title/name, traditional insignia or staff of office, some of his chiefs titles and name of their most revered shrine are all of Benin origin.

Igbo four market days was also copied from old Benin empire.

Even if the Yoruba refuses to accept Oduduwa being Benin originally, that is if he existed in the first place. They accept that Oduduwa is a foreigner from Saudi Arabia which will then make the Oba of Benin ancestry Saudi Arabian because according to Yoruba history, Oduduwa wasn't a Yoruba man, so either way you look at it, the Oba of Benin can't be said to be a Yoruba man. The word Yoruba didn't even exist then.
