AN OPEN LETTER TO PRESIDENT MOHAMMADU BUHARI GCFR

RE: INSECURITY IN NIGERIA

By: KENKWO, KESAANDU KINGSLEY

Dear Mr. President,

It is with heart full of sorrow and sadness that I write you. No true and honest Nigerian is happy with the state of the nation as at today.

Your Excellency, prior to your victory in 2015 Presidential election, on several fora, you made Nigerians see and believe how incompetent fmr. President Goodluck was as regards insecurity due to the menace of boko haram. This earned you lots of votes and on assumption of office, you made us believe that insecurity will be a thing of the past. We were patiently waiting, hoping that your word will be your bond.

Mr. President, with your instruction to relocate military base to those areas of concern,we were partly relieved as it was a good call but to a large extent, it has not yielded very good result because we have not won the war against insurgency as we are losing soldiers and people are being displaced from their homes despite your men would try to hoodwink Nigerians at times by telling those who care to listen that bokoharam has been technically defeated.

Your Excellency, the killings in the country as at today is very alarming and most disturbing.
It is your responsibility to protect lives and properties of Nigerians and for the singular fact that we wake up every morning to hear of the kidnapping and subsequent death of Nigerians is a clear indication that you have failed in your responsibility as enshrined in the constitution.
Sir, how do you feel that same people you swore an oath to protect are being killed by bandits, most recent is the activities of the Fulani herdsmen who are slaughtering our people on daily basis?
May I remind you that you are the commander in chief of all armed forces.

Mr. President, the most disheartening part of this, is that some people around you do not mean well for you. Amidst all these unfortunate incidents, they still say you are doing well. Beware of sycophancy.
Sir, judging by your age and having reached the apex position in the country, all you should be concerned about is how to write your name in gold in the sands of time for posterity sake. You should work so hard to secure Nigeria so that children unborn shall sing good of your name. Remember, the voice of people, is the voice of God.

Your Excellency, it is worthy to note that with the level of insecurity in Nigeria, we can never move forward. Neither nations nor private investors can risk bringing their businesses or people to a country when the tendency of returning in an ambulance as a corpse is high.

As Nigeria who believes in this nation, I hereby make the following recommendations to you as I also want to believe that you genuinely love this country.
1. Sack all service chiefs and replace them immediately with people who can bring something different to combat this common enemy of the people. Select people devoid of religion and ethnic group.
"Don't let fear or insecurity stop you from trying new things. Believe in yourself. Do what you love. And most importantly, be kind to others, even if you don't like them". Stacy London

2) These Governors from the South West have shown great concern about the security challenge mostly in their region which led to the wonderful idea of Operation Amotekun. Kindly warn people like Malami to desist from making irresponsible statements about the program and also encourage, support them in any way you can. Remember, they own the land and know the nooks and crannies of the area. In collaboration and conjunction with the NPF, military and NSCDC, normalcy can be restored in the region. Also encourage other regions to setup similar outfits that will compliment our major security personnel.

3) Sir, a former head of state was quoted to have said that if insurgency lasts for more than 24hours, that government is involved. Mr. President, you might be innocent of this but I advice you should set up a personal cum private investigation unit to know those Nigerians behind these insecurity as I strongly believe that some people who are highly placed might have a hand in our current quagmire.

4)Mr. President, if you think or know that you do not have the political will to face this ugly incident squarely, save yourself the shame of being defeated by insecurity by throwing in the towel. Kindly resign.

Many Nigerians repose confidence in you that you can deliver and today, are so disappointed with your body language and mode of operation towards this enemy of the nation.

We are tired of you sending condolences to victims.
Recall that Prince Tony Momoh who is a chieftain of your party was also quoted to have said that we should 'stephen' you all if you fail to reverse the situation of the country. I am sure we are having same thought now.

Rise up and defend the nation you swore to protect before nobody is left to bury another.
We shall continue to pray for you for God to give you the sagacity and strength to fight and defend the nation but remember, God can not do for man what man can do for himself.

Long live Mr. President.
Long live Nigerians.
Long live the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

WE CAN MAKE NIGERIA GREAT AGAIN.

Signed.
