...promises to continue to lead with fear of God

Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State has again reiterated his commitment to continue to lead the state with fear of God and ensure equity, justice and fairness to all, regardless of ethno-religious differences.

The Governor restated this, when he played host to the Christian Community in Gombe state, led by the Chairman of the state branch of the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, Reverend Ibrahim Joda, who paid him traditional Christmas and New Year homage at the Government House.

Governor Yahaya, who appreciated the Christian Community in Gombe for the visit and their continued support to his government, assured them of his administration's readiness to work with all and sundry in the overall good of the state.

He said as a Muslim, he has sworn to lead the state with the fear of God and to be just to all manner of people regardless of differences, and therefore solicited the support, cooperation and prayers from the clergy and the entire people of the state to enable his administration deliver the goods.

The Governor lamented over the recent spade of insecurity in the country, saying the ugly trend presupposes that all men and women of good will must come together to defeat the common enemy which seeks to destroy the unity of the country.

He encouraged the Christian community not to relent in their prayers for Gombe State's unity and its continued peaceful coexistence.

On the Christian pilgrimage to Jerusalem, Alhaji Yahaya said his administration will ensure that Christians from Gombe continue to perform their spiritual journey, attributing last year's delay to indebtedness of the Gombe state Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board to the tune of about 300 million Naira which he said constituted some procedural bottlenecks that must be addressed.

He however assured Christians in the state, and in particular the intending Pilgrims that adequate arrangements will be made for their participation in this year's pilgrimage exercise during the Easter period and onwards.

Earlier, the chairman of the Gombe Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, Reverend Ibrahim Joda said the thrust of the traditional Christmas and New Year homage was to felicitate with the Governor and to pray for the success of his administration.

He applauded the Governor's style of leadership, which among other things bothered on equity and fairness which he noted, are the hallmarks of peaceful co-existence.

The CAN Chairman used the occasion to remind Governor Yahaya to hold firm unto his campaign slogan;'NASARA DAGA ALLAH' which he said had contributed to his popularity and acceptance among the Christian community in the buildup to the 2019 general elections.

While assuring the Governor of the loyalty and support of Christians in the state, the clergy enjoined him to maintain his usual fair disposition and continue to carry all the two major religious groups in the scheme of things as he pilots the affairs of the state.

The CAN leader appreciated the governor for considering and approving the Christian pilgrimage for the Easter season, describing the period as one of the best times to visit the holy land considering its significance.

Reverend Joda presented a copy of the Holy Bible and a manuscript of daily devotional spiritual food to the Governor on behalf of the Christian community.

Special prayers were offered for the peace, unity and development of Gombe state and Nigeria as a whole, while congregational songs were also rendered during the visit.
