Where Is Your Faith? by judedwriter(m): 9:54am On Feb 09, 2020
Luke 8
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
²² Now it came to pass on a certain day, that he went into a ship with his disciples: and he said unto them, Let us go over unto the other side of the lake. And they launched forth.

²³ But as they sailed he fell asleep: and there came down a storm of wind on the lake; and they were filled with water, and were in jeopardy.

²⁴ And they came to him, and awoke him, saying, Master, master, we perish. Then he arose, and rebuked the wind and the raging of the water: and they ceased, and there was a calm.

²⁵ And he said unto them, WHERE IS YOUR FAITH? And they being afraid wondered, saying one to another, What manner of man is this! for he commandeth even the winds and water, and they obey him.

I still believe that the Lord is asking all of us this same question today; a very vital question:

"Where is your faith?"

You see what pleases God above anything else is your faith in Him. What God requires mostly from us is our faith in Him! It's not your crying, praying, fasting, worship, praise, service, etc. that moves God per se, it's your faith!

“But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.”
— Hebrews 11:6

It is impossible to please God outside faith. So what God requires from us firstly before anything else, is our faith in Him.

The subject of faith is an extremely important one; it is the most important subject in Christianity because faith is the foundation of all things.

God made all things by faith:

“Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.”
— Hebrews 11:3

So the entire universe is made up and structured by faith. If God made all things by faith, then it simply means He expects us to live every day by faith just as we live by eating and drinking:

“Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him.”
— Hebrews 10:38

God takes faith so seriously that anything outside faith is sinful to Him:

“.... for whatsoever is not of faith is sin.”
— Romans 14:23

When we approach God, the first thing He checks is our level of faith in Him. God isn't a magician like many of our self called pastors portray Him; He is a God that is moved and motivated by your faith in Him.

Matthew 9
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
²⁸ And when he was come into the house, the blind men came to him: and Jesus
saith unto them, Believe ye that I am able to do this? They said unto him, Yea, Lord.

²⁹ Then touched he their eyes, saying, According to your faith be it unto you.

³⁰ And their eyes were opened; and Jesus straitly charged them, saying, See that no man know it.

Many times when we seek God for His miracles, usually the first thing He does is to see if we have enough faith to receive from Him.

If we have little or no faith, God may decide to delay your miracles until you can reach a higher level of faith. I used the word "may" because God sometimes may decide to act in sovereignty and work even outside our faith, but this is rarely the case.

This is why many of us are stagnanted for just too long. We sit too comfortably in our level of faith, without realizing that God requires us to keep increasing our faith in Him.

I tell you the truth, many of the great men of God we admire today have all passed through different schools of faith. We rush to them to pray for us, they pray for us, we receive miracles and we support their ministries.

But what we do not know is that God trained and developed their faith by passing them through many years of trials and hardships. If you say you have a calling to ministry, God is going to test and build your faith in a very hard way.

God uses trials and storms of life to increase our faith in Him. The main purpose of a trial isn't to destroy your faith, but strengthen it.

We see this with Job and the children of Israel in the wilderness:

“Behold, we count them happy which endure. Ye have heard of the patience of Job, and have seen the end of the Lord; that the Lord is very pitiful, and of tender mercy.”
— James 5:11

“And he humbled thee, and suffered thee to hunger, and fed thee with manna, which thou knewest not, neither did thy fathers know; that he might make thee know that man doth not live by bread only, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of the LORD doth man live.”
— Deuteronomy 8:3

If you are going through any trial, hardships or impossible situations now, you can overcome easily if you increase your faith in God: spend more time to study God's Word and pray.

BUT life is full of trials! As you have overcome one trial by your increased faith, they're sure more trials waiting for you in the future! This is why we have to live every day life not by hope but faith!

If you refuse to increase your faith, you will remain stagnant in your problems and people will begin ask "where is your God?"

Like we see with the disciples in our opening passage, we all pass through different storms of life; but what matters most is our level of faith in God. It takes God nothing to deliver us, BUT He is moved by mostly our faith not even our prayers.

Have a great week.
