A Lagos based Legal Practitioner and the Peoples Democratic Party's candidate in the last House of Assembly elections, Emankhu Isibor Addeh, has dragged the Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki and the Inspector General of Police , before the Federal High Court in Abuja challenging the ban on all forms of political rallies, gatherings and demonstrations by the Edo State Governor. In the said Suit, Emankhu Isibor Addeh urged the Court to quash the said pronouncement by Governor Onaseki as same is Ultra Vires his powers as Governor. Emankhu Isibor Addeh contends further that the action of the Governor has no place in law and is tyrannical as it is a gross violation of his right to Association and Peaceful Assembly as guaranteed by the Nigerian Constitution. The Federal High Court is urged to award damages in the sum of N100,000,000.00 (One Hundred Million Naira) against Governor Obaseki. Hearing in the Suit is slated for three weeks time.The suit challenging the ban of all forms of political rallies instituted by PDP HOA candidate during the last house of assembly elections Bar.Isibor Addeh against Gov Obaseki has been fixed for the 31st March, 2020. Its before Hon Justice Giwa Ogunbanjo of the Federal High Court, Abuja. Both Gov Obaseki and the Inspector General of Police have been served by the bailiff of the Federal High Court. 1 Like
