So my first car was honda accord 2005. I was happy flexing it and when people ask me which year is your car, I happily say 2005 until one day, when I made a decision to sell my car.



This is where the story gets funny lol. So i and my friend got to the car dealer and I told them my car is 2005 and I want to sell it. They ask me how much and I told them, then he checked it and told me this car is 2003 and I was like never, not possible.

I said not possible, because I and my car mechanic bought the car along with my friends.

They told me it's obvious that the person I bought the car, tricked me in buying this 2003 Honda Accord for the price of honda accord 2005, well that was my first car and i was so angry when I found out i was cheated.

He then explained that things like this happens all the time, and then gave me a simple trick to identify any car year and model.

It is simple, check the car VIN number and search for it on the internet and viola, the full info about that will will show up... Two cars can never have same VIN id.

Lets say you don't have internet, simple, count 10 character from the left and viola that is your car year.

Most EOD we see around are 03 model. But ppls tag dem 05, 04

Me sef want to know how to spot the difference aside from checking VIN.

Another way to spot the difference in eod are the back lights... 1 thing for sure is the 2005 has red lights all except d reverse light, the 2004 has mixed red and blue except d reverse light which must be white, the 2003 has red above and below are white glass lights for both navigator light...

But the funny thing is that most car dealers will change the lights to you wont be able to spot the difference.

U will see 2003 with the rare light u described for 05.

Well, that's why I said the dealers will always find a way to confuse the buyer... I feel, the best way is the VIN ID as it can't lie

Manufacturers themselves cannot differentiate between 2003 and 2004 because they are exactly the same. The 2004 ECU was only updated. Owners of 2003 were recalled for the ECU update that came with 2004. Maybe some electrical modules got updated too but everything stayed the same.

The major difference was with 2005 which had a new rear light and Mass air flow sensor instead of Intake air temperature sensor. An new Hybrid model was also added to the trims which had a its unique alloy wheels. The 2005 also had different V6 alloy wheels and different wheel cover for the LX trim.

The EX maintain the same alloy 2003 to 2005. I think the DX maintained same wheel cover too.

The sure way to differentiate any car model year is checking the seat belt label which carries the year of production. Some dubious dealers will cut that tag out

I have a 2003 that the backlight is all red.
It's possible owners just upgrade the light easily to increase the sale value
