- Femi Gbajabimila, the speaker of the House of Representatives, asks the United States government to assist Nigeria to solve its security challenges

- The speaker says Nigerians are looking up to the United States of America for assistance to tackle security challenges in the country

- The US ambassador, Leonard notes that the United States government is committed to helping Nigeria tackle its security challenges

Femi Gbajabimila, the speaker of the House of Representatives, has pleaded with the United States Government to assist Nigeria defeating Boko Haram insurgents and other security challenges in the country.

Gbajabimila made the plea when he met the US Ambassador to Nigeria, Mary Leonard, at a function in Abuja, Daily Trust reports.

The lawmaker said Nigerians were worried over the lingering insecurity challenges in the country and that many in the country were looking up to the United States of America for assistance to tackle this challenge.

When responding to Gbajabimila’s plea, the ambassador, Leonard said the United States government was committed to helping Nigeria tackle its security challenges.

Meanwhile, the House of Representatives has maintained its demand for the sack or resignation of the service chiefs over the insecurity in the country.

Benjamin Kalu, the spokesperson for the House in a report on Daly Trust dated February 10, told journalists in Abuja that the lower house has not backed down on its call for the removal of the security chiefs.

Kalu stated that the legislators are yet to rescind an earlier resolution calling for the removal of the service chiefs, noting that the resolution stands until a member calls for the resolution to be rescinded.

In another report, the presidency has berated Professor Ango Abdullahi for his recent comments on the security situation in the country.

Abdullahi, the convener of Northern Elders Forum (NEF), had criticised the Buhari administration for failing to secure Nigerians. Responding to Abdullahi, presidential spokesman, Femi Adesina, described the elder statesman as a general without troops.

US government backs Buhari’s fight against corruption

Still on security, the Centre for Social Justice, Equity and Transparency (CESJET) has passed a vote of confidence to Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai and troops of the Nigerian Army involved in the war against terrorism.

The centre said the Army chief has surpassed expectations despite obvious plots from desperate politicians and their collaborators to undermine the gains.

In a statement signed by the executive secretary, Isaac Ikpa, the Centre said it is pleased by the COAS, his troops and President Muhammadu Buhari for the level of operations carried out against the insurgents and other criminal elements.

Ikpa urging Nigerians to support the Army in its ultimate of goal restoring total peace and tranquillity in the land said Nigeria is troubled by instigated multi-dimensional security breaches.

USA please don't listen to these clowns

They know the right thing to do but are afraid of doing it

They should first impeach the incompetent president to begin with

In Katsina State, the General’s home state, begging bandits for peace, instead of routing them, has become an awkward attribute of governance.

Even the soldiers, police and other security personnel are as unsafe as the general public. It is a state of hopeless-ness that should have provoked new initiatives, but the regime appears impervious to change.

Please, let's be guided.

Do you have a specific friend who constantly lives a wasteful and irresponsible life, but asks you to help them pay their rent or bills?

That friend is called Nigeria!

Your kitchen budget as president runs in billions, your house of assembly members’ allowances run into multi millions, your governors’ security votes and allowances run into billions, yet unemployment is high and most people don’t earn decent wages in your country.

The US house members you’re asking for help live on their salaries which are not as high as salaries of private business executives. But they live in a working and powerful nation while you chose to have a powerful private bank account in an ailing economy

With the way the US takes down Iranian's Suleimani, I have no doubt that they could assist in flushing these terrorists out of our land.

But the question is: at what cost?

Until those who have turned these terrorism and counter terrorism into a money-spinning enterprise are identified and properly dealt with, we might chasing a mirage.

How can Gbajabiamila beg US government to help FG defeat Boko Haram when Buhari, Lai Mohammed and Buratai has already done that or is that Buhari and co. are lying to Nigerians or may be they defeated BH terrorists on news papers??
