The Search Team for next Vice-Chancellor for University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT), today, Wednesday, 12th February, 2020, visited the Vice-Chancellor, Alex Ekwueme Federal University Ndufu Alike, Ebonyi State, Professor Chinedum Nwajiuba, to notify the University that the Office of the Vice–Chancellor of UNIPORT is vacant and request qualified staff of the University to indicate interest.

Receiving the team at the Vice-Chancellor’s Conference Room, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Chinedum Nwajiuba, who was represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academic, Prof. Sunday Elom, in the company of other top officers of the University, declared that it is a welcome development for any qualified and interested person(s) to apply for the post of Vice-Chancellor of the University of Port Harcourt, as the office will be vacant from July, 2020.

Prof. M. I. Godwin-Egein, who led the team, thanked VC, Prof. Nwajiuba and the University management for availing them the opportunity to visit for the purpose, stating that in view of what they hear and see going on in AE-FUNAI, they are at the right place. He averred that their visit was to notify the University Authorities that the office of the Vice-Chancellor, University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT) has been declared vacant for replacement of the out-going VC come July, 2020. Prof. Godwin-Egein further maintained that pursuant to the University’s (miscellaneous Provision) Decree No.11 of 1993 as amended by the University’s Amendment Act No.1 of 2007, the Governing Council of the University was pleased to invite applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill the vacancy.

Provost of the College of Medicine, AE-FUNAI, Prof. Paul Ezeonu, expressed delight for the team’s choice of AE-FUNAI as suitable for the search and for making it open for any interested candidate to apply, praying that God will continue to guide and strengthen them as they continue the search for suitable candidate as next Vice-Chancellor of their institution.
