Ghostmode2two: And nope. I ain't a genius. Quite a slow guy myself. I stole my father's book and read it. It was a book on Zoology, botany and Taxonomy. Quite a bulky book. And I still read it till this day. That's several years on. 2 Likes |

BigJoe19: Tell you what, we don't think deeply. We just like to indulge in things that have no basis in reality. Can you imagine? I once met a doctor in this country praying for his patient. And the family members joined in. Now, how about revoking the charlatan's bloody license? Nobody thought of that. Sad. Our blooming reality. 2 Likes |

mansakhalifa: Why should I disappear when I am still catching my fun on the earth? I am going nowhere until kingdom come. Meanwhile I know the earth is a timeless planet no doubt. But human and all living creatures on it are less than 10k years on it. Even with that limited years see what they have made of it. Violence and plundering from age one. And now that we are at the tail end of it all hopes for its restoration is lost. Think about this. |

philip0906:The method looks pretty straightforward and can be fine-tuned to be more accurate. Are there any other reliable and accurate technique of dating that you are aware of? If yes, please spill it here. |

kevoh:Firstly, there is NOTHING straight forward about the method, else it won't be prone to errors. Like I said, carbon dating several times, has had it's accuracy questioned by scientists. Secondly, my point is, it is ridiculous to lampoon Biblical timeline on the grounds that it's accuracy is questionable, when the scientific alternative, is as questionable as the one we accuse. |

Oyibo scientist are sacrificing their time working hard to make names for themselves and one mumu is here saying rubbish about them. philip0906:Lol, I hope you asked this question with an open mind and not to argue. Having said that, while I'm a science student (not the Olamide type, lol) I'm no expert on thus subject matter neither does my field relate to this but I'd try to use basic chemistry to explain the best way I can. I might not be really accurate But with regards to how this carbon dating works, here's what I remember. There's something called half life. Most elements have a certain number of time for it to decay to half its size continually. Say like an hypothetical element P has a half life of 1 year. If there is 1000 P in a certain bag by this time by next year you'd meet just 500, by the year after just 250. Now carbon has it's own half life (I think) which is very large (more than 1 year). Now,let's say its half life is 10yrs and on average a human bone contains 1000 of it. Since the body would stop functioning after death, if I see a corpse and check how many carbon is contained in its bones and it's just 500 I can safely say the corpse had been decaying for 10years. But truth is not everyone has the same number of carbon. We would each have numbers different but close to the average that science specifies for each human being. While there is no way to surely know how many a particular corpse contains at the time of death, the average could be used and the time calculated would only be an estimate. This is just the basic concept I can remember from secondary. Might not really be accurate but I believe is the general overview 5 Likes |
