Awolowo was freed by Gowon while your own leaders (Ironsi) looked the other way by empty promises of freeing him. He agreed to join Gowon’s government because that is what a sensible person would do going by how Ojukwu took decision in haste.

You don’t kill our leaders unprovoked and expect us to fight side by side in a war.
