In the words of the vice chancellor, university of Ibadan – What starts here can change the world.

Richard Adeleke, a 500 level student of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, has been selected by the Baker Institute for Animal Health, College of Veterinary Medicine, Cornell University, Ithaca, New York, USA, to participate as a scholar in the 2020 Cornell Leadership Program for Veterinary Students. The scholarship includes a stipend of $5,000, in-residence housing ($1,300), a registration fee ($400), and other program costs ($1,800).

Richard is the first student from Africa to be selected for this programme. We are optimistic that his success will open the door for the Faculty of veterinary Medicine at the University of Ibadan to establish an exchange programme with one of the topmost Faculties of Veterinary Medicine in the world.

We congratulate Richard and the Dean and the entire Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, UI, for this honour and distinction.

One student says, “this is a great landmark that helps us define why school and the educational system is still one of the best ways to overall success. The lesson I will take from this is that whatever your hands find doing, do it with all your might”

Some of the other achievements we have seen with Richard is that – he bagged a three distinction out of a total of three in his preclinical veterinary school UI, he bagged one out of four in para-clinical veterinary school UI, he also have served as the information minister of the Association of Veterinary Medicine University of Ibadan (AVMS UI) in 2017/2018 tenure. He is currently a 500 level student of Veterinary Medicine University of Ibadan still hoping to do greater things in the academics and in life generally.
