Congratulations to Lionel Messi, the greatest player of his generation, for another landmark achievement.

He keeps breaking boundaries adding yet another feather to his cap as THE ONLY SOCCER PLAYER TO WIN THE PRESTIGIOUS LAUREUS SPORTSMAN OF THE YEAR AWARD. To highlight the importance of this award, the maximum record is held by Roger Federer, who is a five time winner of the award.

The organizers, in recognition of Messi's incredible individual contributions on the field of play, had to break their protocol of not considering team based games for the award. A testament to Messi's individual brilliance on the pitch across all key parameters i.e goalscoring, playmaking, dribbling, passing long or short, technique, control, free-kicks name it.

As seen in the last few games for Barcelona, even when Messi is not scoring, he remains crucial than ever for the team's results. He created barca's last six consecutive assists across three games. The first player to do so in a top-tier European league in a long while.

The GOAT undisputed.
