DEAR PRESIDENT, CLOSE THE REMAINING BORDERS

There is hunger in the land. There is poverty in the land. There is high rate of unemployment. There is high insecurity. There is high corruption. What is the cause? The answer is opened borders. Yes, you heard me, opened borders. Borders are open to all things. A Minister once lamented: even toothpicks are imported! I once heard, even waters are imported! What! Nonsense. Hunger, poverty, unemployment, insecurity & corruption are siblings from the same mother. And I mean it, the solution is closing all borders. Our love for foreign things has driven us to the extreme. Even locally made items have to be tagged made in other countries for them to sell. Our affinity to imported goods has caused drastic drop in demand for local goods. If there is no adequate & sustainable demand, there will be no production in industries. As such industries have no choice but to close businesses or relocate to fertile countries. The consequence is job loss & unemployment. Dear President, please close borders. Let's close borders of our mind against love for foreign goods. Is there a law against wearing our local fabric, sewn in our local styles, to offices & workplaces from Monday to Friday. Have we died by eating local rice. When we closeclose borders against foreign foods, our agriculture will revive, agro-allied industries will re-emerge; many jobs will be created. If we close borders against foreign cloths, our textiles will revive, our tailors or fashion designers will multiply & be busy; jobs will be available. If we close borders against imported petroleum products, ailing refineries will revive, more refineries will come alive, petrochemical industries will multiply; jobs will be created. If we close borders against foreign medical trips, our money will be used to develop home medical facility to acceptable standard, our doctors will stay at home to develop our health sector, more jobs will be created. If we close borders against love for education in foreign lands, our schools will have enough money to expand & develop to standard, school fees will drop, more students will have opportunity of admission, more teachers will be employed. If we close borders against foreign tourism, Obudu, Yankari, Ikogosi, Opobo will go live, more jobs will be created. If we close borders against love for foreign furniture, our carpenter & furniture makers will be busy & multiply; more jobs will be created. If we close borders against love for Arsenal, Chelsea, Barcelona, our love for Eyimba, Sunshine, Kano Pillars, Akwa United will increase; more jobs will be created. If we patronize Innosson Motors, the company will expand, more indigenous companies will emerge, Toyota, Honda and the like will set up their manufacturing companies in Nigeria; jobs will be created. Dear President, close the remaining borders to increase patronage for local goods. Dear fellow citizens, close the borders of your love for everything foreign. Dear people, you will agree with me that we need this sacrifice to revive & increase number of industries. This will in turn increase increase employment. More employment opportunity will address poverty and hunger. Engaged hands will not be available for crimes. Insecurity will reduce to minimum. High rate of employment will address corruption to a large extent. Dear President & Fellow Citizens, let's close all borders to solve our problems.

You make so much sense...Increased production in the country will boost the economy through employment, cheaper products, creativity...even terrorists will get work to do and insecurity will be history...

The idea is working but the time is what Nigerians don't have cause of the past governance to this great state... So many countries are looting our own idea to increase their, imagine what happen in Ogun state smuggler exchange weapons with the custom cause of some confiscated good... My advise buhari should stick to the border closure in order to revamp our own economy for better Nigerians... #bewise

You want to believe Buhari is sensible
Even though he has proved time and again he is not, if u like close all the borders in Nigeria, serious famine is coming to Nigeria as more and more people are being chased from their farms.

What a stupid article... Pretending the borders are closed while some unscruplous custom agents are shortchanging the govt... If other countries close their borders to our crude oil, how do we earn foreign exchange? Who will lend you money when you don't play fair.. I like the idea of foreign medical trips though, it should start from the head.
