N-power Beneficiaries Threaten To Go On Strike Over Non-Payment Of Allowances by TheRareGem1(f): 10:08am On Feb 20, 2020
N-Power beneficiaries under the Federal Government’s Social Investment Programme (SIP) on Thursday, February 20, have threatened to Ms Hajia Farouq on a nationwide strike over the non-payment of January stipend.

Beneficiaries of the N-Power teaching scheme who made the statement on Thursday, saying the stipend delayed during the present Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management, the minister, Sadiya Farouq and commended the Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo.

The issue of non-payment of allowances was once again a matter of national discourse after a similar incident occurred in October 2019 when beneficiaries were not paid for three months.

It was gathered that since the social investment programme of the Federal government was moved from Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo to the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management, the minister, Sadiya Farouq, had been making attempts to stop some of the programmes under the scheme.

Aside from announcing that beneficiaries would be laid off, she has also refused to release funds for the school feeding programme in some states.

The beneficiaries under National Association Of N-power Volunteers said that they would no longer hesitate to embark on a strike action if their allowances were not paid.

The beneficiaries are also asking for the immediate resignation of Farouq over the delay in salary payment since she took over the scheme.

“We believe that Hajia Farouq has a selfish agenda to sabotage the effort of the Federal Government to eliminate unemployment as she had continually held on to public money without reasons.

“We are hereby calling on the minister to as a matter of urgency give us reasons why she has deliberately refused to pay volunteers who have exhausted their time, energy and resources offering voluntary service to the Federal Government.

“She should also give volunteers a reason why she was still holding to that position she currently occupies knowing fully well that she is incapacitated in running this all important office as the lives of many Nigerian youth solely depends on this stipend that she had continued to deny them promptly.

“To this end, we shall embark on a peaceful protest both physical and online to demand her resignation, prompt payment of stipend".

I laugh when i see some Nigerians now complaining about non payment on SIP. This are the same people who never appreciate Osinbajo when he was in charge, now we now know the difference. I hope all their complains reach the minister so she can do the needful.

Osinbajo will surely be missed because the running of the N-power is quite different from the way Osinbajo has set the pace initially.osinbajo is a good man no doubt

Nigerians Nigerians nigerians.

The thing about its people is that they will not appreciate the works of the leader when hes still serving but rather showing praises on that leader when he left the position. Although, this case is kind of different because the president is committed to reducing the rate of unemployment even after he finishes his tenure so therefore make NSIP a going concern by moving it to Humanitarian Ministry.

The beneficiaries can tell the difference. This new minister has not lived up to the hype at all. For a mother to be this insensitive to the plight of hundreds of thousands of beneficiaries, it says a lot about how wickedly incompetent and greedy she must be.

All these show the efforts the VP put into the NSIP programs and his concern for Nigerians in terms of welfare. Institutionalising the NSIP was a good step to ensure continuity through all administrations. Its a sign that we should appreciate the VP and recognize the hardworking he puts into making our lives better.

What is her aim in all of this!!
It may be difficult to carry out the vision of others if you don't have the same insight on such matters but there is always room to ask for help better understanding on how it works.

If she stops the scheme what better alternative Doe's she have.?

This further shows how relevant and important the VP is to this course

Northerns need to be ruled over by southerners
They have zero initiative
They just started talking about education in 2020
Any initiative created by a Southerner is immediately flooded and headed by a brain dead northerner and soon it gets destroyed.

Just look at their region
