The federal government has no plan to give any part of the Abacha loot to any governor
- The position was put forward by AGF Abubakar Malami in response to claims that the sum of $100 million is to be given to Governor Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi
- Malami said that such reports are both baseless and aimed at destroying the reputation of the Nigerian government
Abubakar Malami, the minister of justice and Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF) has debunked viral claims that the federal government is planning to give the sum of $100 million from Abacha's loot to Governor Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi.
Describing the report as false, Malami said that it is only the fabrication of detractors of the Nigerian government, BusinessDay reports.
There were online reports that the administration of former President Olusegun Obasanjo agreed to give Governor Bagudu the said sum for his efforts in the recovery of public assets looted by General Sani Abacha, a one-time military head of state.

The federal government said that President Muhammadu Buhari has no plan to give any part of the Abacha loot to Governor Atiku Bagudu.
It was claimed that the governor, who was alleged to have been instrumental to the looting, was in a US prison for about six months, but upon request for extradition to the Island of Jersey, agreed to return over $163 million of the total stolen funds in exchange for his freedom.
However, the AGF said that the federal government under President Muhammadu Buhari is not a part of such a deal and the reports are only strategies of mischief-makers to tarnish the good image of both the presidency and Nigeria in general.
