What's the purpose of the fish in the first place or is the community known for large scale production of fish in Lagos

All roundabout in this region are being removed.

A lot of these statues take up space on major roads, LASG is possibly looking at decongesting the roads.

You nailed it!

The Governor, a few months ago, stated that the Lagos state government had discovered over 40 large junctions, roundabouts, and areas causing huge traffic across Lagos and that his government will systematically remove them and where not possible, make them smaller.

It was on the same basis that that unnecessarily large (I call it evil) roundabout opposite Lekki Phase 1 gate area (Marwa Bus Stop) has been removed too and a new nodal, connecting interface is being constructed there...

In a way yes, it blocks people from going straight to Sagotedo and motorists have to avoid other cars coming from Ogombo and going to Ajah. The next thing they need to do is replace those greedy and reckless danfo drivers with government regulated buses.
